Norman Alden Crider, 75 of Arab, Alabama, died Thursday – August 11, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Crider was born November 29, 1940 in Cullman County to John Monroe Crider and Sophia Irene Hudson Crider. He was a 1958 graduate of Cullman High School. He was married to the former Judith Ann Smith for 55 years. Mr. Crider lived in Arab for the past five years moving from Cullman. He is a member of the Cullman Masonic Lodge, a member of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church and a former member of North Side Baptist Church in Cullman where he served as a deacon and held numerous other church positions. He also helped establish the Little Mountain Marina Church in Marshall County. He worked for the Alabama Department of Transportation as an Equal Employment Officer until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Judy Crider; sons and daughters-in-law: Dr. John B. and Donna Crider, Jeffery A. and Cheryl Crider; grandchildren: Chase and Helen Crider, Lindsey and Christopher Bloodworth, Lauren and Whit McGhee, Claire and Dillon Cordes, Carissa Crider and Kate Crider; great grandchild: Corbin Suave; sisters and brothers-in-law: Essie Mae and Marlin Hollingsworth, Geraldine and Dalton Sharpton. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Sophia Crider; two sisters: Evelyn Waters and Ercly Vidrine.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday August 14, 2016 at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church with Brothers: Jamey Pruett and Mike Whitt, officiating. Burial will be in the Cullman Public Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Saturday August 13, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. He will also Lie-In-State at the Church prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
