Norma Whitten was born February 12, 1939 in the West Shiloh community of McNairy County, TN, the daughter of the late Henry Norbon and Tessie Viola White Smith.
She was united in marriage to Arnold Preston Whitten, who preceded her in death on March 15, 1994.
Mrs. Whitten graduated from Adamsville High School and earned an Associate’s Degree from Jackson State Community College. She retired from Walmart where she filled many positions, including that of ordering. Mrs. Whitten enjoyed painting and traveling across the U. S., especially the Northwest. She enjoyed word search puzzles, outings with her high school classmates, and loved seeing her great-grandchildren daily. Mrs. Whitten was a faithful member of West Shiloh Baptist Church. She loved special church events, socializing with her church family, spending time with her family and attending family reunions.
Mrs. Whitten departed this life on December 30, 2021 in Stantonville, Tennessee at the age of 82 Years, 10 Months, 18 Days. She is survived by a son, Barry Whitten and wife Angie of Stantonville, TN; four grandchildren: Brittany Whitten and Bridget Whitten, both of Stantonville, TN, Katie Courtwright of Lexington, TN, and Joseph Whitten of Stantonville, TN; four great-grandchildren: Kayden Whitten and Karmen Whitten, both of Stantonville, TN, and Skyler Courtwright and Jacob Courtwright, both of Lexington, TN; two sisters, Sylvia Lambert and Sherrie Evans, both of Chattanooga, TN; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Whitten was preceded in death by a son, Micah D. Whitten; a sister, Sandra Kay Johnson; and a brother, Joe Keith Smith.
