Norma Joan Rogers, age 81, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 24, 2022. Mrs. Rogers passed away at her residence in Heflin, Alabama surrounded by family.
Norma is survived by her brother, Charles (Donna) Wallace; two daughters, Denise (James) Williams, Shannon Ledbetter (Mike Godwin); two sons, Ronnie Phillips, Ray (Karon) Rogers; five grandchildren: Kolina (Adam) Harrison, Afton Williams, Cody Ledbetter, Brooke Ledbetter, Cloie Ledbetter; five great grandchildren: Mason Harrison, Eloise Rotz, Parker Goolsby, Jaspen Goolsby, Raven Hollis. Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Carole Wallace, loving husband Roy Rogers.
Norma was a loving, supportive, kind, compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, friend, devout Christian. Once a business owner who took great pride in floral design, always wanting to provide the perfect arrangement for each occasion, was once asked to provide an arrangement for a deceased horse. Norma never hesitated, and crafted an amazing horseshoe for the memorial service.
In her free time, Norma enjoyed listening to music, audible books, the hit television show “The Voice”, telling stories, playing pranks, manicures, pedicures, a trip to the hair stylist, and the companionship of her cherished fur baby, Maggie Mae.
The family would like to recognize Francis Smith, Norma’s beloved friend of 67 years, someone she loved to be around, share a laugh, and a conversation with.
Norma, was also endearingly known as “Nanny”, a name bequeathed upon her by her oldest grandchild. Nanny took great esteem in caring for her grandchildren, in addition to those she claimed as her grandchildren. To all who knew Nanny, she had a razor whit, free spirit, and held the key to everyone’s secrets. Nanny was the heart and soul of our family, provided wise advice to all who sought her counsel, always taking the time to listen.
To have loved Nanny, and been loved by Nanny, was the greatest gift. Mom was a magnificent woman who enriched the lives of those she met with the stories of a woman who lived, and endured a hundred lifetimes.
Mom will truly be missed.
A private celebration of life will be held by her family and friends at a later date.
