Norma Jean Thomas Newcomb, 76, resident of Ripley, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo following an extended illness.

Funeral Services honoring the life of Mrs. Newcomb will be at 12 Noon, Thursday, February 9, 2023 in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM until 12 PM on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at the Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Blue Mountain Cemetery.

Mrs. Newcomb was born on January 8, 1947, the daughter of the late James Oliver and Mildred Crum Thomas and was a graduate of Ripley High School. She was a valued seamstress with Red Cap Corporation and a talented hairdresser for over 20 years before retirement.

Crotcheting, reading and old crime television shows were a few pastimes Mrs. Newcomb found much pleasure in.

Family was important to Mrs. Newcomb and she cherished all her time shared with them.

Survivors include her husband of 18 years, David Newcomb, two daughters, Lori Carter (Billy) and Lynn Alberson (Billy), a stepdaughter, Jennifer Newcomb, two sons, Wayne Dulaney (Renee) and Michael Dulaney (Ethelda), a stepson, Justin Burleson, father-in-law, Charles Newcomb, a brother, Ola Thomas (Ann), 11 grandchildren including Neal, April, Amy, Jonathan, Michaela, Ashley, Sloan, 16 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and two canine companions, Little Bit and Jasper.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Newcomb is also preceded in death by her brother, James Oliver “Jr” Thomas.

Pallbearers are Neal Alberson, Colton Alberson, Justin Burleson, Jonathan Dulaney, Eric Thomas and Justin Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ben and Freddie Dulaney.
