Norma H. Cook Profile PhotoNorma Hickman Cook, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. She was born at the Kings’ Daughters’ Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee. Norma grew up in Giles County on her parents’ farm outside Lynnville, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Jones High School, Class of 1955. Norma worked at Whitthorne Middle School for twenty-seven years.  She enjoyed estate sales, auctions, and yard sales, collecting antiques, and sharing those with her family. She enjoyed gardening and yard work. Norma had many beloved pets over the years, most recently her precious Weimaraner, Mattie.

In 1965, Norma married Jerry Allen Cook Sr. They were married for thirty-four years.  Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, in 1999, and her parents, Melvin and Dezzie (Felker) Hickman.

Norma loved her children dearly and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in various activities and sports. She is survived by her children: Jerry (Jamie) Cook, Jennifer (Paul) Waller, Jon (Sharon) Cook; and grandchildren: Justin (Nicole Anderson) Cook, Joshua Cook, Lloyd Waller, Rachel Waller, and Oliver Cook.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Funeral service will commence at 12:00 PM with Randy Owens officiating.  To follow, Norma will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Cook, Jon Cook, Paul Waller, Justin Cook, Joshua Cook, and Lloyd Waller.  Honorary pallbearers will be Rachel Waller, Oliver Cook, Charlie Foster, Bobby Sands, Clark and Sonja Bennett, Ron Neal, Sylvia Patrick, Adrian Hopkins, Rita Shipley, and Kayla Gray.

The care of Ms. Norma H. Cook and her family has been entrusted to the staff of Williams Funeral Home.
