Norbert Raymond Lutz
January 31, 1931 – October 20, 2023

Norbert, a Korean War veteran, warrior, soldier, patriot, loving husband, and father has joined his beloved wife, Kimiko, at the age of 92.

Norbert, born in Chicago, Illinois, was the only son of Helene and John Lutz. Norbert was married to Kimiko for 60 years until her death in 2017. He is survived by daughters, Kathleen (David) and Jacqueline.

Norbert’s career spanned over 60 years, working for the US Government between active US Army duty and civil service, beginning with enlisting with the Illinois National Guard in October 1947. Based at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama for a good portion of his career, he also held posts in Korea, Panama Canal Zone, Okinawa, Tehran, Iran, and Germany.

Norbert held a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of the State of New York and a Master of Science in Business Administration from Boston University.

The Norbert R. Lutz Logistics and Readiness (LAR) University was named after him with campuses in Huntsville, Alabama and Corpus Christie, Texas. He was an advocate for the warfighter and worked feverishly to ensure the troops had the best training and material to ensure their readiness to support their mission.

Interment will be at a later date at the Alabama National Cemetery.
