Mrs. Nora Harris Allen, age 90, of Unionville, Tennessee, died Saturday morning, December 13, 2014 in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Mrs. Allen was born in Bedford County and was a daughter of the late George Thomas and Annie Marlin Harris. She was a long time member of Hickory Hill United Methodist Church and was a member of the FCE Club in Unionville. She retired from Genesco, Inc. of Chapel Hill where she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest B. Allen, who died in 1995, a son, Donnie Allen, and sisters, Margaret Ford and Justine Lemmon. Mr. Allen is survived by daughters, Janice Brothers, Unionville, TN, Sara (Buddy) Pruitt, Smith Mountain Lake, VA; sisters, Lucille Graham, Woodland CA, Clemmie Henley, Vallejo, CA, Barbara Faulk, Nashville, TN; brothers, Tommy Harris and Ronnie (Joan) Harris, both of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Chris (Tracey) Brothers, Sherry Anderson, Phillip Pruitt, Mark (Penny) Pruitt, Adam (Tracey) Pruitt, Lori (Andrew) Miller, Lisa (Eric) Evans; seventeen great grandchildren.
Family members will receive friends on Monday, December 15, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Unionville Cemetery in Bedford County.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
