Nolan Layne, 61, of Hazel Green, went to be with the Lord on Saturday while surrounded by his loving family.

Nolan had retired from Madison County Commission District 1 where he worked as a heavy equipment operator.   He was a Christian and of the Baptist Faith.   He was also a gifted mechanic and enjoyed farming.

He was preceded in death by his daddy, Nolan Gwin Layne Sr;  His mother, Helen Manley; His step-father, Woodrow Manley.

Surviving family members include his wife of almost 45 years, Pam Patterson Layne;  His son,  Jason & Samantha Layne;  His granddaughters: Bryleigh Layne and Kaylee Piche; His brother, Eddie & Pat Layne;  He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5pm until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2pm at the funeral home with Dr. Joel Carwile officiating.  Burial will follow the service and will be in Charity Cemetery.

Nolan will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who cherished spending time with his family, going to car shows, and aggravating his loved ones and his cats.  His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him because they loved him.
