Nicky passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born October 10, 1948, in Cullman County, to Marvin Wendell Pressnell and Eunice Jean Bailey Pressnell, who preceded him in death.
Nicky’s life was anchored on two statements of faith. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might and love your neighbor as yourself.” He lived these principles out in humility and consistency, whether it was working as a USDA food inspector, ministering to the north Alabama area through his ministries at the Central, Dancy’s Chapel, and Neel churches of Christ, or spiritually leading his family through life’s challenges. There were no people who fell outside of his love or his sincere concern. He loved his wife Debbie as Christ loved the church, sacrificially, giving her special honor above all others. He was devoted to his family, instructing them, loving them, disciplining them, and supporting them in every way imaginable. He had a special love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending most every event or activity, inexplicably able to be at seven places at once. He embodied Joshua’s powerful challenge, “Choose you this day whom you will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” He was artsy, creative, a musically inclined songwriter, a coach and motivator, a camp fun sing guru for over 45 years, and a wise counsel to Christians everywhere. He preached with a balance of conviction, kindness, and practicality and touch hearts with his passion and sincerity. He was silly, a roller skating legend in his youth, and a talented drama student. He knew his community and they knew him. He loved the church and Christians everywhere loved him. Above all, he loved His Heavenly Father and stood for Him here so that He may sit at His feet forever.
