Nick Weathers, 45, of Rogersville passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2024 surrounded by his family at his residence after a 19 year courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Nick was a 1996 graduate of Coffee High School in Florence, Alabama. After high school Nick earned an associate degree in forestry from Jones County Junior College in Ellisville, MS. Nick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in GIS from The University of Southern Mississippi. Upon his graduation from USM Nick worked at Intergraph as a Geospatial Analyst. Nick also served in the United States Coast Guard for 5 years until he was medically retired on 2016. In Nick’s healthy days, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. After the effects of MS started taking a toll on his body, Nick spent most of his days at home spending time with his boys, wife, family and fur babies enjoying his favorite treat, Blue Bell Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream.

Visitation for Nick will be Thursday, May 16th from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home with a graveside following at 5 p.m. in McCartney Cemetery in Rogersville. Connor Boyer will be officiating. Pall bearers will be Rodney Summerford, Sam Weathers, Jason Burroughs, Jeremy Walley, Eric Felton, Johnny Masoner and Phillip Butler.

Nick is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Gerry Weathers of Rogersville, and Lawrence and Melba Stone of Hattiesburg, MS. He is survived by his wife, Ami Weathers of Rogersville; sons, Jack and Jim Weathers of Rogersville; mother, Frances Weathers of Killen; brother, Sam (Megan) Weathers of Salem, Oregon; nephews, Cormac and Emmett Weathers also of Salem; uncle, James Stone of Melrose, Florida; father-in-law, Rodney Summerford of Florence; mother-in-law, Donna Summerford of Florence; brother-in-law, Allen Summerford of Florence; beloved fur babies, Cooper and Phoebe; and numerous members of extended family.

The Weathers’ family would like to extend a special ‘thank you’ to Amedisys Hospice and Affinity Hospice for the care during Nick’s illness.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to ‘Nick Weathers Memorial Fund’ at any Bank Independent location for support for Nick’s boys in person or over the phone.
