NASA Special Agent Named Chief of Glenn’s Protective Services Office

NASA’s Glenn Research Center has announced the appointment of Christi Tomaro as chief for the Office of Protective Services, effective February 23.

Tomaro, a native of Lorain, Ohio and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, will be responsible for the planning, development, review, execution and management of Glenn’s security program. She has a broad scope of responsibilities including information, personnel and physical security; loss prevention; industrial security; emergency preparedness; security education; and security policy.

Tomaro served as the deputy chief for the Office of Protective Services since 2012. She managed a comprehensive security program, with disciplines in physical, personnel and information security; emergency management and a security services support contract.

“Christi is notably qualified for this position,” said Robyn Gordon, director of Center Operations. “Her experience brings an excellent skill mix to this exciting and challenging new job.”

Tomaro received her Bachelor of Arts in organizational management and a Master of Business Administration from Tiffin University, Tiffin, Ohio. She also completed the NASA Glenn Research Center Leadership University, Cleveland Federal Community Leadership Institute, Weatherhead School of Management Women in Leadership, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio and Kent State University’s Certification of Supervision, Kent, Ohio. In 2012, Tomaro was sworn in as a NASA federal special agent after completing NASA’s Protective Services Training Academy Federal Arrest Authority program.
