New Market Man Dies After Being Injured In Two-Vehicle Accident In Morgan County

MORGAN COUNTY-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a two-vehicle accident that occurred in Morgan County has take the life of one person and another person has been taken to Hospital:

“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. Friday, October 28, has claimed the life of a New Market man.

Benson Sergiles, 42, was critically injured when the 2020 Chevrolet Trax in which he was a passenger was struck by a 2021 International MV607 truck driven by Jeffery Battle Jr., 36, of Birmingham. Sergiles was transported to Huntsville Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Lourdie Sergiles, 38, of New Market, was also transported to Huntsville Hospital for medical treatment.

The crash occurred on Alabama 157 near the 24 mile marker, approximately two miles south of Danville, in Morgan County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
