FOFLAS color logoFLORENCE-The Florence/Lauderdale Animal Shelter has a new support group.  Here is what they have to say about themselves:

“We are proud to announce a newly-formed group, “Friends of Florence Lauderdale Animal Shelter”; people working together to support the Florence Lauderdale Animal Shelter and its needs. We are looking for volunteers to cover various tasks and everyone is welcome! The first fund-raising effort is a Yard Sale & Adoption Event at the Shelter, located at 702 E. College Street, Florence on Saturday, June 14 from 8am-2pm. Bring your family and friends – we’ll have puppy kissing, popcorn, sno-cones and much more! All proceeds will help the Shelter purchase vaccines and emergency medical needs for the Shelter animals.

Working as a volunteer is extremely rewarding and several areas of the Shelter need assistance, for example: Fostering, fundraising and planning events, photography/videos, yard work/handy work (repairing things in the shelter and gardening), doing laundry at the Shelter, walking dogs at the Shelter, cleaning/sanitizing, transporting animals to/from rescues or veterinarian visits. The list is long, but worthwhile.

Items are needed for the Yard Sale – with the exception of clothes or shoes, anything gently-used is welcome!Monday, June 9 through Thursday, June 12, Guns-N-Such located at 228 N. Court Street in Florence has generously donated their storage area as the drop-off point for any goods you may have.

If you have any questions about volunteering or the Yard Sale, please contact; Jenny Hill, 256-710-3215, email jenhill82@yahoo.com or Jamie Carder, 256-412-2408, email blauereiter6@comcast.net. Please join us as a volunteer and come to the Yard Sale! We are here to help the animals, who through no fault of their own, are in the Shelter; help us to help them! “
