DECATUR-Spring 2020 was not the brightest spot for most small businesses, including those located on historic Bank Street in downtown Decatur. This year has dawned brighter, and to celebrate, Bank Street merchants are excited to host the Bank Street Spring Spectacular to kick off the spring and summer seasons. The Bank Street Spring Spectacular will run March 4th-6th with happy hour, in-store events, food trucks and extended shopping hours.
The Bank Street Spring Spectacular kicks off this week and for three days, the historic downtown street will be filled with activities for all ages. Following is schedule of events and activities (subject to change):
Thursday, March 4th
• Hidden Golden Easter Egg Hunt in the following stores: 810 Antiques, Tennessee Valley Pecan Company, Jamie Hood Jewelers, Glee Interiors, Behind the Glass, Cloud 9, DeAnn’s Art Gallery and Studio, Threaded Boutique
• Art in the Window – Watch professional artist/gallery owner DeAnn Meely create a special, one of a kind, original piece to commemorate the 2021 Spring Spectacular. The piece will be available for purchase during the event.
• Gift certificate giveaways at Jamie Hood Jewelers
• Happy hour beginning at 4 p.m.
• Extended shopping until 7 p.m.
Friday, March 5th
• Mom’s Morning Out at Cloud 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Food trucks
• In-store events
• Flower vendors
• Live music
• Street artists
• Extended shopping until 7 p.m.
• Mom’s Day Out with Mini Facials at Threaded Boutique (reservations required)
• Portrait Artist Arthur Smith will be at Behind the Glass March 5-12 creating 16×20 portraits. Prices start at $150 for one subject; add $60 for each additional person. Call 256-351-2333 to book a session.
• Coffee and pastries all day and special drawings (no purchase necessary) at DeAnn’s Art Studio to celebrate third anniversary.
• Create a spring art masterpiece under the guidance of professional artist DeAnn Meely from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $10 each and space is limited and on a first come first serve basis. Meely will also have sample pieces for sale that make great Easter basket fillers and Mother’s Day gifts.

Saturday, March 6th
• VIP Power Hour at Threaded Boutique with special gifts to the first 20 customers from 9 to 10 a.m.
• Sidewalk Sales, including sale items starting at $5
• Art on the Street – Local artists take to Bank street in a special plein-air event. Watch artists create works of art on location on historic Bank Street. Their creations will be available to purchase on the spot.

In addition, Food Truck Friday begins this week. The first Friday of each month through November, food trucks will be set up at Old State Bank from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to provide shoppers and those visiting historic Bank Street with another food option.
