Neva June Garner Smith, age 79 of Decherd, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County and life-long resident of Decherd, she was born on June 29, 1944, to the late Paul Douglas “Pug” Garner and Louella (Barnes) Garner Sherrill. Before her retirement, she had been employed as a beautician and as a machinist, and always enjoyed the work at hand. In her spare time, she could be found gardening, sewing, and upholstering. June was a wonderful cook and loved hosting her family and friends for food and fellowship. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Wayne “Buddy” Smith; and nephew, Dean Bridges. June is survived by her loving sons, Benton Smith and Paul D. Smith; sister, Patty Bridges Harrison; grandchildren, Ashley, BJ, Emily (Chace), and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren, Alan, Ashlynn, Aaliyah, Jax, and Emberlee; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 11:00 am-1pm on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel.
