Nellie “Sue” Norris Smith, 79, of Florence passed away March 22, 2017 surrounded by her loving husband and children. Sue met her husband, John in 1952 in South Bend, IN. After dating for a couple of months John knew she was his soul mate and the love of his life so he proposed and she said yes. Twenty years later they moved back to Waterloo, AL where they would raise their five children. Next month they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Granny Sue loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent her life taking care of other people and she will be missed by many.
Visitation will be Friday, March 24, 2017 from 12-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Bobby Crosswhite and Kevin Smith officiating.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, George “Ernie” and Zelma Norris.
She is survived by her husband, John Smith; children, Jerald Smith (Carol) of Killen, Bobby Smith (Charlotte) of Florence, Patty Littrell (Jack) of Florence, Lorie Lovelace of Athens and Kevin Smith (Debbie) of Waterloo; sisters Sarah Norris of Florence and Joann Baker of Niles MI; grandchildren Anthony Smith (Lisa), Craig Smith (Deanna), Miranda Simpson (Jeremy), Brandi Miller (Shane), Wesley Lovelace, T.J. Lovelace, Colt Smith (Courtney), Lacey Smith, and Amy Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Leslie Brooke Smith, Paisley Smith, Laney Simpson, Kane Simpson, Hannah Claire Miller, Wyatt Miller, Cooper Miller, Brilee Smith, Emmett Williams, Jackson Murphy, Molly Woods, Jake Wood and Andi Taylor.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Smith, Craig Smith, Colt Smith, Wesley Lovelace, T.J. Lovelace, and Jake Woods.
The family would like to thank the staff at Glenwood Rehab Center and Connie Stowe for her loving care.
