Nellie Ruth Anderson Gandy, 91, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Senatobia Healthcare and Rehab after following an extended illness.
Funeral Services honoring Mrs. Gandy’s life will be 11 AM Saturday, January 13, 2024, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Mike Dorr officiating. Visitation will be 5 PM until 8 PM Friday January 12, 2024, at the Ripley Funeral Home and will continue from 9 AM until Service Time on Saturday. Burial will follow in Nance Graveyard in Tippah County.
Born January 17, 1932, in Tippah County, Mrs. Gandy was the daughter of the late Harvey Lee and Bessie Mae Wallis McAlister. She received her education from Ripley High School and was employed with E. H. Crump Insurance for twenty-five years working as an insurance under writer.
A devout Christian woman, Mrs. Gandy enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her rose garden, and admiring all of God’s creation. Her favorite pastimes included reading, listening to music, cross stitching, sewing, and participating in arts and crafts projects with her friends. Above all, Mrs. Gandy’s greatest joy came from her family. She loved seeing and sharing time with her grandchildren and always encouraged them to do their best. She lived a purpose filled life and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Those left cherish her memories include one daughter, Debbie Ann Jones (Bill), two sons, Charles Lamar Gandy (Grail) and Rex Franklin Gandy (Laura), two sisters, Lynda McAlister Hamm (Norman) and Shelia McAlister South (Sam), two brothers, Larry McAlister, and Jimmy McAlister (Paulette), six grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Ward, and one brother, Danny McAlister.
