Nellie Mae Jones, 85, of Bethel Springs, TN passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020, at AHC McNairy. A private family-only graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at Lake Hill Memory Gardens in Bethel Springs, TN. Her nephew, Bro. Shannon Battles and niece, Pam Morgan will officiate the service. Nellie was born July 15, 1935, in Counce, TN to the late William Reed and Verdie Bell Feazell Battles. She worked as a seamstress for a short time at Loretta Manufacturing Company and Jetricks in Selmer, TN. She used her sewing talent to not only make clothes for the public but also Buford Pusser. She loved auctions, yard sales, and her family history. She enjoyed making jewelry, crafting, sewing, and listening to bluegrass music. She will always be remembered in the hearts of her loved ones. Those left to honor Nellie’s memory include her sister, Betty Chandler of Bethel Springs, TN; nieces and nephews, Vickey Wiggins, Johnny Chandler, Tracy Chandler, Steve Murray, Darla Murray, Becky Battles, Rhonda Follis, Angie Battles, Ricky Matlock, Tina Matlock, Wendy Matlock, Becky Williams, Diane Pettigrew, Regina Hamm, Teresa Battles, and Timmy Battles; half-uncle, Teddy Gene Battles; step-sister, Judy Mathis; sister-in-law, Pat Battles of Selmer, TN; other relatives, and a host of friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charles Jones; her brothers, Lee Roy Battles, Bob Battles, Harvey Battles, Bill Battles, and Deward Battles; her sister, Sue Matlock; nephews, Rocky Battles, Steven Chandler, Billy Reed Battles, Wayne Battles, and Johnny Austin; her niece, Belinda Rowe; step-brother, Donald Bishop; half-uncles, David Battles, and Lane Battles; half-aunts, Shirley Battles, and Bell Battles; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margie Battles Porterfield, Burnie Sue Austin, James Jones, and George Austin.
