Nellie Lorene Butler Casteel – Obituary

Nellie Lorene Butler Casteel, 89, of Florence, passed away November 8, 2018 at Helen Keller Hospital after an extended illness. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and volunteered with the Help Center.

A Rosary, in her honor, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The visitation will be from 11-12 p.m. at the church with a Mass of Christian burial beginning at 12 p.m. with Father Roy Runkle officiating. Burial will follow in Butler Cemetery.

Mrs. Casteel was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wathen Casteel; parents, Floyd and Rosie Butler; and sisters, Ann Nugent (Jean), and Dot Roberson (Charles).

She is survived by her sons, Charles David Casteel (Jenny), John Patrick Casteel, and Mark Anton Casteel; daughter, Deborah Susan Casteel Garner (Neal); sister, Bettye Butler Snowden (Joe); grandchildren, Jonah Casteel, Hannah Garner, Nathan Garner, and Penelope Casteel.

Pallbearers will be Jonah Casteel, Nathan Garner, Mike Roberson, Charlie Roberson, Neal Garner, and John Casteel.

The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale Shoals and Keller Landing for the care given to their mother and grandmother.

Donations, in her honor, may be given to Catholic charities or St. Joseph Catholic School.
