Joy was a special wife and mother—choosing to be homemaker through her children’s formative years. Some may not be aware that she worked in the public sector as a clerk during two segments of her life. As a young woman, she worked at Graham Music Store in downtown Florence. This was also a cherished part of her life with her sister, Jo. She loved and appreciated many types of music. After her children were grown, she worked in a mill-ends store, as well as another small, general merchandising store.
Joy loved her family dearly and demonstrated it through words and actions, such as sewing for her girls, crocheting, and teaching others to crochet. Her hand-crafted doilies are displayed in numerous homes across the South as result of that talent. She loved children and taught Bible classes through the years as well. She was kind and compassionate to all she met.
She was truly loved by her family and friends will be deeply missed.
