Nellie Beard ScottNellie Beard Scott, 90, affectionally and loving known as “Nanny”, died Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at her residence in Santa Fe.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Ronnie Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Born October 8, 1929 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late John Frances Beard and the late Iva Dell Adkison Beard. In February 1956, she married Monk Scott who preceded her in death November 22, 2001. She retired from General Electric. Mrs. Scott loved fishing and spending time with her family and friends. She was a Nanny to many generations of the Santa Fe Community, and was a member of Elmore Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Scott; Michelle Scott; sons, Raymond Beard; Hervie Beard; sisters, Athelene Cox; Katherine Beard; brother, Wayne Beard; grandchildren, Nicole Scott (Derrick Mote), Kimberly Wilhelm, Lisa (John) Carter, David (Patty) Beard, Carolyn Mangrum, Christie Coker, Josh Ashworth, Cory Ashworth; seventeen great grandchildren including her three special boys, Blake, Evan, and Braden; Callie and Peyton Wilhelm; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Randall “Scoot” Scott on October 11, 2004; and seven brothers and sisters.

Active pallbearers will be Derrick Mote, Blake Mote, Evan Mote, Braden Mote, Peyton Wilhelm, David Beard, Troy Hargrove, and John Carter. Honorary pallbearers include Jo Lane, Destiny Dodson Jones, Diane Maxwell, Angela Castillo, Franny Potts, Jennifer Fiola, Diane McCord, and cousin sister, Rachel Beard.

The family would like to express a very special thanks to Destiny Dodson Jones, Avalon Hospice, Preacher Mike, Nena and Pam.
