Nell Tomlin, age 83, of Kennedy, AL, passed from this life on April 6, 2024, peacefully at her residence surrounded by family.
Nell was born in Oakman, AL on January 2nd, 1941, to the late Fred and Leomie Blackston. She moved with her family to Birmingham where she would meet the love of her life, Dan Tomlin. They were married for 65 years. After a few years in Birmingham, they moved to Fernbank, AL in Lamar County where they started their family. They were blessed with two children, Pamela Katherine (Kathy) and Daniel Phillip (Danny). Later they had the opportunity to move back to family land in the Kingville Community where they farmed and raised cattle for over 50 years. Nell was always happy. She lived her life with a smile on her face and a gentleness in her heart.
Nell was a constant companion to Dan. She loved working alongside him and helping on the farm in any way that she could. Dan and Nell were lifelong, faithful members of the Kingville Church of Christ where they raised two faithful, Christian children. Nell passed from this life a faithful Christian.
Funeral services will be Sunday, April 7, at 3:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Curtis Heatherly, Tommy Tomlin, and Phillip Tomlin officiating. Burial will follow at the Ole Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Chesley Heatherly, Jess Tomlin, Blake Tomlin, Kevin Sullivan, Bill Tomlin and Bob Tomlin.
Nell is survived by her husband, Dan Tomlin; her children, whom she was a loving mother to, Kathy (Curtis) Heatherly of Vernon, AL and Danny (Karen) Tomlin of Kennedy, AL; her four grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Chesley (Mary Kyle) Heatherly of Tupelo, MS, Jess (Erica) Tomlin of Kennedy, AL, Blake (Jennifer) Tomlin of Lynn Haven, FL, and Mary (Kevin) Sullivan of Vernon, AL; and her eight great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy in the latter years of her life, Hayes and Hunter Heatherly, Fisher, Parker, and Callaway Tomlin, Riley Pankey, and Charlie Sullivan.
