Nelda Sue Beasley, dedicated wife and beloved mother, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on March 1, 2025. Nelda was born December 24, 1938 in Trimble, Alabama to Joseph “Wheeler” Smith and Clercy Alberta Calvert Smith.
She was married to her loving husband, Denver, for an impressive 68 years. Nelda graduated in 1957 from Cullman high school. She was a supportive military spouse, working when needed, including teaching Spanish-speaking children English in California for several years, and continued her work with children later on in Virginia. Nelda’s love for travel took her across the globe, with a special fondness for Europe, where she visited France fifteen times. She had a knack for aesthetics, as a lover of fashion, antiques, and interior design. She loved tending to her herb and flower garden, with a particular affinity to pink roses. In addition to her professional and personal accomplishments, Nelda was an amazing cook.
Nelda is survived by her husband Denver Beasley; children Russell (Brenda) Beasley and Denise (Brian) Beasley-Pirkle; grandchildren Rachel (Jason) Word, Ryan Beasley, Stephanie Beasley, Jillian Beasley and John Beasley; great-grandchildren Katie, Brayden and Rosie; and a host of extended family and dear friends. Nelda was preceded in death by her parents Wheeler and Clercy Smith, and siblings Fred, Gaynell and Joe.
Nelda was a picture perfect example of a Proverbs 31 woman, and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
