TUPELO– Natchez Trace Parkway officials announce that construction on the Barnes Crossing Bridge over the Natchez Trace Parkway at milepost 265 near Tupelo, Mississippi will require stopping traffic on both lanes on the Parkway for very short periods of time from May 13 – 16, 2014.
“Traffic will be stopped so that the temporary beams used to construct the bridge can be removed,” stated Superintendent Mary Risser. “Delays should last a few minutes while the contractor removes one beam, and then traffic will be allowed to pass. This will be repeated until all of the temporary beams are removed. While we regret this temporary inconvenience, this action is essential to get the bridge open.”
Parkway travelers should be aware of possible delays and are advised to use caution around the work area.
