Nannie Lee McBride, beloved mother, devoted wife, and dedicated community leader, passed away on August 13, 2023. She was born on April 20, 1938, and her impact on the lives she touched will forever be cherished.

Nannie was a loving mother to her children, John III, Michael, and Shannon. She shared a remarkable 65-year journey of love and companionship with her husband, John McBride. Their bond was a testament to the strength of their commitment and the warmth of their relationship.

Nan grew up in Stevenson, AL before moving to Huntsville, AL. Nannie’s spirit of service knew no bounds. She generously dedicated her time as a volunteer with the Red Cross and Huntsville Hospital, and as a scout leader for Brownies and Cub Scouts. Nannie’s involvement extended to the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and vice president. Her faith was not only a source of solace but also a driving force behind her tireless dedication to her church community. She assumed the role of President of the Cosmopolitan Club and served on its board for several years, leaving a lasting impact on the club’s mission. Nannie’s influence was felt on a broader scale as she served on the board of Directors for the Presbyterian Apartments for four years, contributing to the well-being of her community. Nan also held a pivotal role in securing funding for a library at the learning center.

Nannie’s legacy lives on through her husband, John McBride, Jr.; and her children, John McBride (Paula), Michael McBride (Marion), and Shannon Kimble (Todd). She was a cherished grandmother to Briana Brackett, Victoria Brackett, and John Parvin McBride, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Nannie Lee McBride’s life was a tapestry woven with love, service, and compassion. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift generations to come. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the remarkable life she led and the indelible mark she left on our hearts.

Nan’s service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on August 15, 2023, at 3 p.m. There will be a private family burial.

May Nannie’s soul find eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
