Nancy Terrell Renfroe, age 72, of Douglas, Alabama passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024, at Shepherds Cove Hospice. Born on March 13, 1952, in Vincent, Alabama. Nancy was a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Growing up in Vincent, Nancy was the eldest of five siblings and played a nurturing mother role to her brothers and sisters. She was a Christian lady raised in the Baptist Church who loved the Lord and listening to gospel music. She moved to Albertville, Alabama and graduated from Albertville High School in 1970. Her compassionate nature led her to a lifelong career in caregiving at the Albertville Nursing Home. Following the untimely passing of her first husband, Waylon Terrell, Nancy demonstrated remarkable resilience and dedication by putting herself through nursing school. Nancy’s coworkers and patients at Albertville Nursing Home were her extended family. Outside of work, Nancy love for life included Auburn Football, playing poker, and enjoying the slot machines. She found joy in traveling to the mountains and beach. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In her later years, Nancy found companionship and love with Mr. Raymond Renfroe. They spent countless hours together, often seen rocking on their front porch sipping on diet Pepsi, savoring the simple pleasures of life.
Nancy is survived by her her children, Kelley Terrell, Lisa Mullins (David), and Jimmy Terrell; husband, Raymond Renfroe; her stepchildren, Lee Renfroe (Sherry), Dennis Renfroe (Charlotte), and Barbara Dobbins (Joey); her grandchildren, Sloan Valentin (Jorge) and Chet Tucker; her great-grandchildren, Mia, Luna, Isla, and Cruz Valentin; her siblings, Kenneth Fleming, Sandra Artale, and Tommy Fleming; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Waylon Terrell; her parents, James Fleming and Faye McClendon (E.H. “Mac”); and her brother, Robert Fleming.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Thursday from 11:00 to 2:00 at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the funeral home. Nancy will be laid to rest at Douglas Cemetery with pallbearers Chet Tucker, David Mullins, David Glassco, Zane Fleming, Chance Fleming, and Randy Sullins assisting in her final journey.
Nancy’s legacy of love, care, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
