Nancy Lockhart Fox, age 92, a resident of Santa Fe, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday morning, August 20, 2024, at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Earl Davis and Bucky Rowland officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Santa Fe Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and again on Friday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Nancy, affectionately known as “Mer”, was born on January 1, 1932, in Santa Fe, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late Herschel Eugene Lockhart and the late Gladys Galloway Lockhart. On June 16, 1948, she married Robert “Rob” Paschall Fox in Florence, Alabama. Together, they owned and operated Fox Service Station from 1956 to 1978 and spent many years raising cattle and working on their farm. Rob preceded her in death on November 12, 2004. Nancy retired from Maury Regional Medical Center in 1997, where she worked as an EKG Technician. She was a dedicated mother who followed Danny’s and Susan’s numerous sports activities throughout their younger years. Known for her exceptional cooking skills, Nancy had a special fondness for Thanksgiving and enjoyed preparing meals and baking for others. Up until a few years ago, she was an active member of Santa Fe United Methodist Church, where she took great pride in creating floral arrangements, decorating the sanctuary, and participating in various church community activities. She also had a passion for gardening and loved tending to her flowers. Her independence and selflessness were evident in her constant efforts to help those around her.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Daniel S. “Danny” (Tandie) Fox of Santa Fe, daughter, Susan Fox O’Connor of Columbia, brother in law, Larry (Janie) Fox of Santa Fe, grandchildren, Chad Fox of Santa Fe, Robert Alan Fox (Margo Andrews) of Santa Fe, Grant O’Connor of Columbia, Jillian O’Connor (Jack Fitzgerald) of Columbia and Chance O’Connor of Columbia, great grandchildren, Daniel Fox and Deborah Katlyn Fox, a host of nieces and nephews, and special friends, Karen Malugin and Alma Jean Steward.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Jean (Frank) Walker and Jack (Maxine “Moonie”) Lockhart.
Pallbearers will be Steve Lockhart, Marty Lockhart, Jeff Fox, Mike Wall, Chad Fox, Robert Alan Fox, Grant O’Connor, and Chance O’Connor.
Honorary pallbearers will include Larry Chunn, Stephen Walker, Lee Coulter, Marlin Arnold, Guy Potts, Larry Weaver, Nita Lentz, Karen Malugin, Alma Jean Steward, Virginia Potts, Dr. Gary Podgorski, and Dr. Linda Monroe.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the nurses and staff of NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center with special thanks to Duston Tate for their care for Nancy during this difficult time.
