Nancy Fox Davis – Obituary

nancy-davis-1479374370Nancy Fox Davis went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 16 at her home in Jackson, TN. Nancy was born on April 21, 1933 in Newport, AR the only child of Alice Armstrong and Vardaman Fox. After graduating from Newport High School in 1951, she attended Arkansas State University where she graduated with a Business Education degree. There she met Tom Davis from Jonesboro, AR and were married for 55 years.
After Tom’s military duty and three years in Montgomery, AL they settled in Birmingham, AL where Tom became an executive with Golden Flake Snack Foods. Nancy was blessed to be a stay-at-home mother to her two children and poured her life into them and her church. She was very active in the children’s education and faithfully served her church where she worked in the library. Nancy was active in Community Bible Study and played tennis competitively throughout her life.
After 47 years in Alabama, Nancy and Tom moved to Jackson, TN to be closer to family. They made friends quickly and became active members at West Jackson Baptist Church where she again found a role in the library. The members of her Sunday School class have been especially precious to her as well as her fellow bridge players.
Nancy is survived by her son, Mike Davis (Lyn) of Jackson, TN, and her daughter, Donna Verna (Scott) of Dexter, MI. She has five grandchildren, Brad Davis (Beth), Amanda Verna, Rebekah Harrelson (John), Taylor Verna, and Brandon Verna as well as two great grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Vardaman and Alice Fox and her husband Tome Davis.
SERVICES: A funeral service for Nancy will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at West Jackson Baptist Church, with Rev. Ron Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 -5:00 PM Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Nancy’s residence and on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 1:30 – 2:30 PM at West Jackson Baptist Church.
The family request that any memorials be given to West Jackson Baptist Church Mission Ministry, 580 Oil Well Road, Jackson, TN 38305 or to the Christian charity of your choice.
