Nadine Rutledge, age 86, of Sheffield, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 26, 2018. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, November 28, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at York Terrace Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Dr. Rodney Shewbart and Chad Holder will officiate. Interment will be in Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery.
Nadine was born in Florence, Alabama on November 2, 1932, to the late Tony and Mildred Hopper Malaspina. She was a faithful member of York Terrace Baptist Church. Mrs. Rutledge was a retired receptionist from Northwest Alabama Rehabilitation Center, and she was a volunteer at Helen Keller Hospital for twenty-three years.
Mrs. Rutledge was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly sixty-five years, Herman “Bubba” Rutledge Sr.; daughter, Beth Rutledge Baker; great granddaughter, Natalie Helton; and eleven siblings.
Survivors include her children, Earl Rutledge (Cathy), Tony Rutledge (Jenna), Vicky Rutledge, and Bobby Rutledge (Rhonda); honorary son, Kyra Jackson (Wendy); grandchildren, Alison Howard Rutledge, Amanda Howard Rutledge, David Baker, Jennifer Rutledge (Mitch Glover), Phil Baker (Erika), Andy Rutledge (Felicia), Chris Rutledge (Lindsay), Betsy Cox (Drew), Amanda Helton (Jason), Susannah Christopher, Dylan Christopher, and Molly Mills (Adam); great grandchildren, Neely Harper, Kennadie Howard, Kade Cornelius, Ella Cox, Harley Baker, Ava Rutledge, Norah Cox, Gunnar Hazen, Jason Rutledge, Jackson Vallejo, Ben Hazen, Devyn Baker, Liam Johnson, and Matthew Rutledge; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Martin, Jim Pride, Jimbo Dowdell, Jim Hargrove, Randy Pettus, Wesley Roden, Thomas “Peanut” Howard, and Phillip “Dinky” Nesbitt. Honorary pallbearers will be the volunteers of Helen Keller Hospital.
