Nada Sue OdenNada Sue Oden, affectionately known as “Maw” to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025 at the age of 85. Born on July 1, 1939, to Julian “Buddy” Owens and Mildred Owens, Sue grew up in a loving family that instilled the values of faith, kindness, and perseverance.

Sue married, Ernest Everet Oden, with whom she shared life with until his passing in 2005. Together, they raised three children: Leesa, Teresa, and Ernie.

Maw’s boundless compassion and open heart endeared her to everyone she met. She was a cornerstone of her family. She was a member of the Morgan City Church of God.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Leesa (Steve) Royster; her son, Ernie (Tammy) Oden; and her brother, Bryant (Jimmie Ann) Owen. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Brian (Jamie) Shepherd, Jeremy (Nicky) Royster, Emily Parker, Valerie Page, Ernie Oden Jr., Ethan (Kaitlyn) Oden, Elam (Britt) Oden, Stephanie (Eric) Reed, Trayton Royster, Audrianna (Paul) Feltmeyer, BellaRose Royster, and Anthony Royster; as well as 21 great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest, her daughter Teresa, her brother Bill Owen, and her special companion William Alton Luker.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of North Alabama, especially Tabatha Nichols and Danita Crossen for their phenomenal care and to Rose Royster, Ashlee Harvell, Cain Harvell, Tiffany Salter, Reba McAnally and various members of the Morgan City Church of God for their unwavering support during Maw’s illness.

Nada Sue Oden was a beacon of light and love whose memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Services for Sue will be Sunday, March02, 2025 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel. Visitation will be from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. and the funeral service will immediately follow at 2:30. Brother Roalnd Cornwell and Jeremy Royster will officiate. Interment will be in Rescue cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Alan Crouch, Doug Compton, David Parker, Kevin Hardin and Cain Harvell.

Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
