Branch President Tori Bailey stated that NAACP Tri-County Banquets have typically been sold out events, and given the success of last year’s event, members made the decision to follow advice from health care professionals by presenting a second virtual affair rather than the traditional sit-down gathering. Bailey said, “We felt it was very important to safeguard the well-being of our supporters, and with the usual number of attendees, it would be a challenge to enjoy dinner while maintaining recommended physical distancing during this pandemic.” She described the NAACP Dine-In Dinner by saying, “it is the most convenient kind of banquet because one can choose attire, menu, time, and even the date, and not worry about the weather or finding a convenient parking space” while still supporting the NAACP Tri-County Branch with a donation in any amount. She hopes that members and supporters will again be able to dine under one roof next year, and encourages everyone who can to be fully vaccinated by that time so help ensure a safer gathering. Banquet letters are available upon request. Program ads can be purchased for $100 for posting on the NAACP website.
NAACP Tri-County, chartered in 1965, is the only Alabama Branch consisting of three counties (Lauderdale, Colbert, and Franklin) and uses funds raised by the Banquet to assist in providing civil advocacy.
