Myrtle “Kelly” Stewart King – Obituary

kingMyrtle “Kelly” Stewart King, born October 10th, 1925, a child of the great depression. ‘Kelly” passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2015 after an extended illness. She was cared for by her family and caring medical staff. A “Rosie the Riviter” in World War II, she drove an explosive truck in the local defense industry. She was a 1942 graduate of Coffee High School in the early days of World War II. In 1951 she married Winfred “Fred” Wiley King (TSGT., U.S. A.A.C.), an air traffic controller in C.A.B. (later FAA), who preceded her in death, along with her parents, Charles Dewey Stewart and Eveland Hill Stewart. Survivors include son, Phillip W. King; grandsons, Phillip S. King and Scott C. King; great-grandchildren, Brooke King, Payton King, Kassie Black, Olivia King, Preston Robert King and Britton Gracie King, and her buddy and cousin James B. (Chubby) Stewart, and her cat “Mr. Elvis”. There will be no visitation and the funeral service will be private with family and friends only. The King family wishes to thank the Hospice Caregivers at Southern Care, especially Lamonica Lee and Rose Lane for their loyal service to “Kelly”. Burial will be at Florence City Cemetery near her parents.
