Murrel Lee Attaway age 87 passed away May 11, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born January 22, 1927 in Reagan, TN the son of the late Troy and Evie Mae Stone Attaway. He was educated in the local school system and attended a Vo-Tech School for auto mechanics. He worked at Moody’s Garage for many years, then worked as a mechanic for Whalley Construction in Jackson, TN then before he became disabled he worked for State of Tennessee Nursery. He was a Baptist in belief. Mr. Attaway served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Attaway is survived by a daughter, Marguerite Attaway Galloway of Jackson; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren ; a sister, Lois Attaway Green in League, Texas and also two broken hearted pets, Freddie and Peanut.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Sue Dodds Attaway, a daughter, Cynthia Lee Attaway Pusser, a sister, Lessie Mae Attaway Whitaker and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel with Donald Jones officiating and burial will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Johnson Chapel 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday.
