Murphy Dale Armstrong, 89, of Moulton passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021, at his home. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Brandon Pylant officiating. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family requests that anyone who attends the service to wear a mask and practice social distancing measures.
Born on April 5, 1932 to the late Freeman and Annie Thompson Armstrong, Dale graduated from Lawrence County High School. He was a very special friend and neighbor, always there to help in time of need. Mr. Armstrong was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
A member of Community Baptist Church and a supporter of Lawrence County Christian School, Dale loved gardening and had a brilliant mind for designing and building things. He was very interested in space exploration and worked on numerous NASA Space Programs.
Survivors include his daughters, Amy Jo Armstrong Richardson (David) and Connie Armstrong; son, Andrew Sherrill Armstrong; granddaughters, Julie Dee Legg, Tara Beth Jones, and Kate Richardson; great grandchildren, Jaxson Dale Nickelson, Murphy Hayes Jones, Nori Kate Jones, Willa Faye Jones, and Tallulah Grace Jones; sisters, Ann Dutton, Mary Jane Armstrong, and Shirley Faye Clifton (Bobby); sister-in-law, Jewel Armstrong; and numerous special nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 66 years, Virginia Faye Sherrill Armstrong; brothers, Donald Armstrong, Josh Armstrong, Edwin Armstrong, and Billy Neil Armstrong; and sister, Lola Grace Armstrong.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
The family extends special thanks to Hospice of The Valley and Dale’s numerous special caregivers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, Lawrence County Christian School, or the Community Baptist Church.
