Multi-Vehicle Crash Results In Death Of One Person And Injuries To A 13-Year-Old In Dekalb County

DEKALB COUNTY-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a multi-vehicle crash near Crossville has taken the life of one person and sent a 13-year-old to hospital with injuries:

“A multi-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 9:05 a.m. Wednesday, October  23, has claimed the life of an Albertville woman.

Sandra W. Mashburn, 70, was fatally injured when the 2007 Ford Explorer that she was driving struck the 2011 Jeep Wrangler driven by Robert A. Tipton, 58, also of Albertville.

After the initial impact, the Jeep left the roadway then caught fire.  The Ford then struck the Chrysler Pacifica Touring van driven by Adrianne T. Stevens, 31, of Crossville. Mashburn was pronounced deceased at the scene. Tipton was injured and transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital (UAB) for treatment. A 13-year-old, who was a passenger in the Jeep, was also injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The teen was not using a seat belt at the time of crash.

The crash occurred on Alabama 68 near Dekalb County 478, approximately two miles west of Crossville, in Dekalb County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
