MUSCLE SHOALS-The Muscle Shoals Police Department released a statement concerning the arrest of a suspect who is being held on possible theft 1st degree charges:
“Vehicle Theft Investigation
On Monday, September 11, 2023, Austin Shane Vandiver, 26 of Sheffield, was arrested by Muscle Police Department Detectives after investigating a vehicle theft that occurred over the weekend.
MSPD Detectives and Patrol Division were canvasing the area of 6th St. this morning when Detectives spotted a vehicle matching the description of one stolen from over the weekend. Detectives verified the vehicle as stolen and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle pulled off the roadway and stopped in a parking lot. The driver, Vandiver, exited the vehicle and ran on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Vandiver was taken into custody without incident.
Austin Shane Vandiver is currently being held in the Muscle Shoals Police Department Jail while Detectives continue investigating the incident. Vandiver is currently facing charges of Theft of Property 1st Degree.
All subjects facing charges in any case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
