FLORENCE –The Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area opens its latest photo contest this year with a twist: just snap and post.
“We wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to share their photos of northwest Alabama’s natural beauty,” said Carrie Crawford, MSNHA director. “To enter this year, all you have to do is post a photo on your own social-media accounts with the hashtag #msnhaphotocontest. We’ll do everything else.”
Previous MSNHA photo contests required entry forms and compliance with several guidelines. This year, the only restrictions are that photos must be taken within MSNHA’s six counties—Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone and Morgan—and they must showcase nature.
Contest deadline is 5 p.m., Monday, Feb. 1. After the contest ends, MSNHA staffers will choose a first-place and a second-place photo. Winning photographers will receive prize packages with items from local businesses and museums.
“We’ll share the hash-tagged photos on our social media for everyone to enjoy,” Crawford said. “In addition, we may use some in our marketing campaigns or other publications, although we’ll contact photographers to verify details if we do that. We’ll also contact winning photographers before announcing their prizes.”
The contest is open, Crawford added.
“2020 has thrown us so many challenges,” she said. “We hope this simplified contest will encourage everybody to participate so that we can all share in the beauty and inspiration of nature.”
