THE SHOALS-The Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area, a program of the National Park Service that helps
communities in northwest Alabama protect and promote cultural resources, is accepting
applications for community grants.

Applications and details are on the MSNHA website at
https://msnha.una.edu/resources/community-grants-program/

Cost of projects should be between $1,000 and $7,500, with a required 1:1 match – for example,
if you ask for $5,000 then you’ll need to provide at least $5,000 in matching funds and/or
donations and volunteer time to receive the grant funding.

“Projects should also be completed in a year, and funds are rewarded only after the project is
complete and supporting documentation submitted,” said Terrence Johnson, MSNHA interim
director.

“We have $30,000 available for these grants. When funding is allocated — at whatever point in
the year — we’ll close applications. This ensures all available funding is allocated, but it does
mean that applicants will need to plan ahead to get their applications in,” Johnson added,
