Moonshine For Sale At Trade Day….One Arrested

FALKVILLE-The Morgan County Drug Task Force and the Alabama Beverage Control Investigators completed an investigation into the sale of “Moonshine”.  Here is how the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department describe the investigation and arrest:

“On Friday, October 24, 2014, the Morgan County Drug Task Force, along with Alabama Beverage Control (ABC) Investigators, completed a 2 week joint investigation for the Illegal Sale of Liquor “Moonshine” at the Lacon Trade Day in Falkville, Al. The Morgan County Drug Task Force had been receiving information from citizens of Morgan County that “Moonshine” was being sold openly out of the Lacon Super Mall business, located at 5881 Hwy 31 SW in Falkville, Al. Under Cover Agents with the Morgan County Drug Task Force made contact with – William Bennie Osmer (w/m 52) – owner and operator of Lacon Super Mall and made several purchases of Liquor being sold under the name of “Fuel Additive or Air Freshener”. Investigators located and seized approximately 2 ½ gallons of Illegal Liquor “Moonshine” hidden within the business. Upon further investigation both Agencies – Morgan County Drug Task Force and ABC Investigators located a Whiskey Still being operated at the residence of William Osmer located in Cullman Co. Agents and Investigators located and seized approximately 20 gallons of fermenting liquid at the home of William Osmer, along with Ingredients (corn, sugar, and yeast) and equipment to produce more Liquor.

William Bennie Osmer was arrested and transported to the Morgan County Jail, charged with 3 Counts: Alcohol Sales w/o License, Bond totaling $900.00. Investigation is ongoing and charges are pending in Cullman Co. for the operation of Still to produce Liquor.”
