Montyna La’Shea Swann, one of the great free spirits of her generation, left us all too early on Sunday, December 17, 2023. Montyna was lifted to another realm from Baptist-Golden Triangle in Columbus at the age of 18. Born in Blue Ridge, GA on January 18, 2005 to the late Joshua Bradley Swann and Stephanie Nicole Waldo Swann Kilbourne, she came to Mississippi to live the rest of her life at six weeks old. A social butterfly, Tyna was a deeply spiritual lady whose faith in God was solidified in the beauty of nature, the outdoors and quiet times with her children in the Park. A great music lover of all genres of music, Tyna loved and was loyal to her family and friends to a fault. Fiercely independent, you always knew where you stood with her. She was an amazing Mother to her two sons, Kaleb (22 months) and Mikah (6 months). At the time of her death, Tyna was employed in the Diesel department at Love’s Truck Stop in Columbus.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 1 PM Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, in the Sadie M. Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors in Tupelo. Friends and family will reflect on her contributions to their lives. Visitation will begin at 11 AM for the public and continue to service time. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed at www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Live-streaming by 1 PM Friday, and will be archived thereafter.
Tyna is survived by her sons, Kaleb and Mikah; her mother, Stephanie Kilbourne and her stepdad, Stephen Kilbourne; 5 siblings, Bella, Ana, Ruby, Isaac, and Azzy; her grandparents, Norma and Clarence Cranford, and Teresa Buse; her great-grandmother, Barbara Smith; a special cousin and best friend throughout life, Savannah White; and a large host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and their families. She was preceded in death by her dad, Josh Swann in 2014; and her grandfathers, Miek Swann and Greg Buse.
