Ms. Monnie Powers Shutt, age 94, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025 at her home in Scotts Hill. She was born November 22, 1930 in Henderson County to the late Joel and Maggie Dunavant Powers. She was a retired seamstress at Decaturville Sportswear and loved flowers, taking care of her yard, quilting, cooking, and taking care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Joe Walter Shutt; one son, James Shutt; and was the last of 17 children.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie Shutt (Darlene); her daughter, Tammie Martin; five grandchildren, Michelle Snyder (Chris), Danhyell Pilkington (John), Wesley Shutt (Stacey), Felisha Seymour (Kevin), and Ethan Martin (Monica); and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM, Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Decatur County. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 5 – 9 PM and on Wednesday, 10 AM – 1 PM.
