Monna Childers Odom, 69 of Bagley, passed away Oct. 26, 2024.
Monna was a native of Vina, AL, where she attended Vina High School. She was a member of the Red Devils Marching Band where she served as Drum Major, as well as playing trumpet. For many years she sang in her family quartet. She loved Elvis and she was an avid Alabama football fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Emma Leigh Childers; brothers, Edgar Lee and Roy Childers; her sister, Ermarie Purser and nephews, Wesley and Ryan Childers.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years Jimmy Odom; daughters, Trina Phillips and husband Jack and Katie Newman and husband Jason; grandchildren, Shalina (Heath), Sheena (Karli Argo), Max, Isabella, Jaden and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Eden, Asa, Vanity and Bentley; brothers, Royce Childers (Adrian) and Troy Childers; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday Oct. 30, 24 at 11:00 am in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Pastor Jimmy Hammock will officiate. Burial will be at 2:00 pm at Liberty Hill Cemetery 22912 Hwy 19 Vina, AL 35593. Visitation is Tuesday Oct. 29, 24 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
