Misty Dawn Finney, age 51 of Decherd TN, passed away May 18, 2024; while being loved and comforted by her family and closest friends.

Misty Dawn Finney was born in Shelbyville, TN, on January 30, 1973, to Geneva (Walls) Finney and the late Fred Finney. On this snowy morning she came into this world marching to a different drum.

Misty lived life to the fullest. Her fun-loving spirit can be captured by the song, ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’. She enjoyed life and wanted to make the most of it. She had ambition and determination. She was known as a bit of a spitfire. When she set her mind on something, she could make it happen. Misty attended Motlow State Community College in Tullahoma where she earned an associate degree in business and was educated as a paralegal. This provided the foundation for her to own her own business. Misty’s Taxes and Bookkeeping on Old Alto

Highway in Decherd was her way of serving others with her skill in accounting, bookkeeping and tax filing. Misty was articulate and gained many loyal clients with her professionalism and attention to detail.

Family and friends meant everything to Misty. She held a special bond with her daddy and loved being his ‘little girl’. Together they would spend many hours camping and horseback riding at Bucksnort. With her mother, she had a shared interest in gardening.

They enjoyed seeing the fruits of their labor, although she would admit it was mama who had the green thumb. This great love of family extended beyond her parents and siblings, Marie and Brian. She loved being Auntie to her nieces, Kassie Larae and Brande. Even though ‘auntieing’ is not a word, it can be said Auntie Mamas are some of the best moms. Auntie Misty captured as much joy as earthly possible by sharing her big heart with the little ones, Joan Ruth, Hamilton Wayne and Addison. Her pride in her great niece and great nephew was without end.

Misty had so much hope for the future. She found her forever person, the man of her dreams, Lee. Who she knew loved her dearly. She was overjoyed when he brought her to Texas to meet his family. She knew she had found a keeper that would love her to the very end.

Misty left her mark on this world. She was loved by many. Her bright fun spirit leaves an emptiness in many hearts. Misty Dawn Finney is survived by mother, Geneva Finney; fiancé, Lee Housley; sister, Marie Finney; brother, Brian (Deborah) Finney; nieces, Kassie Larae Scharber and Brande (Dearl) Pemberton; great nieces and great nephew, Joan Ruth, Hamilton Wayne, and Addison; and may other extended family members.

Misty was preceded in death by her father, Harry Fred Finney and beloved infant daughter, Jessie Larae.

Misty’s life story does not end here. Misty chose to give the gift of life by being an organ donor and that makes her a hero. She will continue to live on through the lives of others that she changed and in our eyes that makes her a superhero. We are left with a blessed assurance that those who are in Christ will meet again. We find comfort and peace in knowing that Misty is now complete. The huge hole left in her heart is now overflowing with joy. Misty has been reunited with her daddy and is holding baby Jessie Larae in her loving arms. Now she has no more tears, no more sorrow, only an eternity of peace, joy and unmeasurable love.
