Miranda Bruton Barrier, 40, of Madison, died Thursday, March 14, 2014, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was born August 25, 1972, in Moulton, the daughter of J.M. and Gearldean Proctor Bruton.
Miranda graduated from Lawrence County High School in Moulton, with the class of 1990. She continued her education at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, earning Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education, as well as additional credits, which qualified her to teach at the Junior College Level. Continuous Education was a common thread through her life, which she passed along to all who have been blessed to be her students.
Throughout her career she has taught at Tuscaloosa County High School, Echols Middle School (Tuscaloosa), Shelton State Community College, Calhoun Community College and most recently at Bob Jones High School in Madison.
She is survived by her parents, J.M. and Gearldean Proctor Bruton of Moulton; her husband, Jarrod L. Barrier of Madison; three childrenm Elijah (12), Ian (11), and Ellen (6); and a brother, Marty (Tammy) Bruton of Moulton. Miranda also leaves behind her beloved nieces, Rachel and Victoria Bruton of Moulton and Mount Hope, respectively, Jose and Madalyn Higgins of Oakland; and a nephew, Alan Bruton of Moulton.
Miranda was an incredible Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and friends who loved life and will be dearly missed.
Graveside Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16 at 3 p.m. at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens, with Dr. Tim Lovett and the Rev. Steve Gruman officiating. A Celebration of Life will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Parkway Funeral Home in Trinity, to greet relatives and friends.
