Millie Alred, 82, passed away Friday, August 22, 2015 at Darlington Oaks in Verona. A lifelong resident of Nettleton, she was born March 6, 1933, the daughter of Charlie and Addie Dillard Knight. She was an active member of Nettleton Pentecostal Church and spent her life serving others and taking care of her family. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, cooking, decorating, and gardening.
Services will be 5 pm Monday at the Nettleton Pentecostal Church with Rev. Larry Davis and Rev. Jordan Davis officiating. Entombment will be in the Lee Memorial Park Veteran’s Mausoleum. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
She leaves behind her 2 daughters, Shirley Mills (Reldon) of Nettleton and Patricia Harris of Plantersville; 5 grandchildren, Lisa Rakestraw, Angela Gates, Shauna Harris, Jessica Kennedy, and Hannah Harris; 8 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Weaver B. Alred; her daughter, Carolyn Walls; a granddaughter, Melena Mills; and her brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Rev. Cody Kennedy, Chris Estes, Justin Dean, Jeffery Sullivan, Jerry Harris, Donnie Barnes, and Hunter Holley. Johnnie Sullivan and James Sullivan will serve as honorary pallbearers.
