Mildred Springer Minatra

Mildred Springer Minatra, age 96, died Tuesday morning, June 1, 2021 at Glenwood Nursing Home in Florence, Alabama. Mrs. Minatra was born February 19, 1925 in the Fall River community of Lawrence County, Tennessee. She was a homemaker for many years but spent several years of her early adulthood as a school teacher in the small country schools in and around her home at Fall River. She was a member of the Blooming Grove United Methodist Church, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex C. and Vera Hazelwood Springer; her husband Wendell B. Minatra and infant daughter Anita Minatra; her sisters, Carrie Bell Hillhouse, Kathleen Springer, Ida Ruth Konig and half-sister Annie Mary Springer; her brothers, Alex C. Jr, James, Howard and Thomas Springer. She is survived by her son, Mark Minatra and wife Debbie of Florence, Alabama.

A private family burial service will be held at Giles Memory Gardens in Pulaski, Tennessee.

The family would like to say a very special thank you to the staff of Ivy Crest Assisted Living for three years of loving care provided during her stay there.

Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis or to the charity of your choice.
