Mildred Ruth Johnston Mildred Ruth Johnston, 89, of Athens, passed away Friday, April 12th, 2024. She was born August 18th, 1934, in Athens, AL, to Robert and Lucy Rebecca (Pepper) Schrimsher.

Mrs. Johnston is survived by her daughters Nancy Johnston (Jean-Paul Ebe) and Susan Ackerman (Steven); son Nick Johnston (Wendy); sister Bonnie Snoddy; grandchildren Hannah Ackerman, Rebecca Ackerman, Hayle Torres (Tyler), Seth Johnston (Hannah), and Eli Johnston (fiancée Natalie); nieces Monica, Sally, Jennifer, and Genie; and nephews Neal Jr., Brian, and Keith.

Mrs. Johnston is preceded by her husband Sidney Johnston; parents Robert and Rebecca Schrimsher; and sister Carolyn King.

The graveside service will be Sunday, April 14th, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at Athens City Cemetery, with Rev. Clint Coffey officiating. The visitation will be Sunday, April 14th, from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnston was a long-time kindergarden teacher, and a faithful member of the First Christian Church. She loved gardening, playing the piano, and cooking. She was very devoted to her family, and in particular her grandchildren.
