Mildred Mozelle Smith Seratt – Obituary

MildredMildred Mozelle Smith Seratt, age 89, died Tuesday evening, October 29, 2013 at Saline Memorial Hospice at Bryant, AR.

Mrs. Seratt was born and reared in Chester County, the Old Friendship Community, the daughter of the late Napoleon Beauregard “Buddy” Smith and Vassie Davis Smith. She attended Chester County schools and in 1942 married Brancy Eugene Seratt. They made their home in the Old Friendship Community where they farmed and operated Seratt’s Grocery. Mr. Seratt died in 1988. Mrs. Seratt continued to make her home in Chester County until 2003 when she moved to Little Rock and then Benton, AR to make her home with her daughter Bonnie.

She was a member of the Little Hatchie Primitive Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters; Bonnie Hailey of Benton, AR, and Faye Morrison of Henderson a son Jimmy Seratt of Griffin, GA, two brothers; Jerry Smith of Milan and Johnny Smith of Henderson, two sisters; Osa Lee Taylor of Henderson and Shirley Talley of Henderson, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Barncy Seratt in 1988, a son Thomas Seratt in 1990, three brothers; Eugene Smith, Rayburn Smith, and Vestern Smith, and two sisters; Wilma Sue Connor and Mayrene Blackstock.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Charles Whitten and Troy Frye officiating and burial will follow at Cave Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Thursday.
