Mildred “Millie” Haverstick of Selmer, TN departed this life on May 14, 2014 in Selmer at the age of 86 Years, 1 Month, 12 Days. She was born April 2, 1928 in Masseyville, TN the daughter of the late Kennie and Zettie Fortune Kerby. During her lifetime, Mrs. Haverstick had lived in Bethel Springs, TN, Memphis, TN, and Modesto, CA. She was a retired Bookkeeper for Sears and had also worked as a Switchboard Operator for Bell South.
Mrs. Haverstick was united in marriage to Harold D. Haverstick who preceded her in death on April 11, 1976.
She had attended the church of Christ in Bethel Springs until her health became poor. During her lifetime, she supported the Billy Graham Ministries and was a member of the North Shore Animal Society. She loved music and singing, both gospel and country, and was a great seamstress, did embroidery, and flower gardening. She loved dancing and won many dance contests. Mrs. Haverstick enjoyed traveling and had been to many different countries. She never had any children of her own, but owned a shetland pony farm and freely shared the time and fun with children everywhere. She had a big heart and would gladly give and share anything she had.
She is survived by two nieces, Sheila Willis of Selmer and Donna Kay Parks of Modesto, CA; two nephews, Tommy Nickles and Kennie Nickles, both of CA.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Haverstick was preceded in death by a sister, Melba Cleo (Kerby) Nickles and husband J. T.; two brothers, Percy Milford Kerby, Maynard P. Kerby; a nephew, James Allen Kerby.
