Mrs. Mildred Kilgore ThomasaceMildred Kilgore Thomas of Huntsville and most recently of Fredericksburg, VA., died on Monday, August 4, 2014 in Fredericksburg, VA, where she had lived with her daughter Carolyn and her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Sandlin Thomas.
Mildred is survived by her daughters Carolyn (Bryan) Howell of Fredericksburg, VA. and Michele (Jim) Shivers of Huntsville, stepson Robert of Saginaw, Texas, a foster daughter, Wendy Voelker of Brandenburg, Kentucky, her brother Robert Billy Kilgore, Huntsville, several nieces and nephews, grandsons Kevin Shivers, Huntsville, Judson Howell, Alexandria, VA, JD Howell, Blacksburg, VA., granddaughter Bethany Shivers, Dothan, AL., step-grandson, Jonathon Thomas, Saginaw, Texas and 5 great grandchildren.
Mildred lived in Huntsville for most of her life and retired from Federal civil service with the Army at Redstone Arsenal. She was a member of Huntsville Bible Church and member and former President of the John Hunt Pilot Club.
Visitation is from 4 to 6 on Thursday at Spry Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at Spry at 10 am on Friday and a short grave side service will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery immediately following.
Flowers are welcome, but in lieu of flowers a contribution to your favorite charity would be appreciated.
